NHS and NJHS

The National Honor Society is an honorary society for students in grades 10-12, and the National Junior Honor Society is for students in grades 8-9. The organization was founded in 1921 by the National Association of Secondary School Principals. Each chapter follows the National Honor Society’s pillars which center on five areas:

  • Scholarship - Showing pride in the pursuit of knowledge
  • Service - Showing concern for each other, the community, the nation, and the world
  • Leadership - Accepting responsibility and working well with others
  • Character - Exploring and evaluating personal goals and commitments
  • Citizenship - Participating in community organizations and school clubs

The MCS National Honor Society and National Junior Honor Society sponsor a variety of activities and service projects throughout the school year. The members strive to represent MCS and the National Honor Society to our student body and to our community. Applicants must maintain a 3.70 cumulative G.P.A. and complete the extensive application process. All applicants are voted upon by the MCS Faculty Council.

Student Council

Learning how to be a good leader and taking an interest in your school are both very important parts of a student’s high school experience. Student Council provides an opportunity for Madison Christian students to show how devoted they are to helping other students.

Student council is in charge of several activities throughout the year. Several of them include Homecoming, Spirit Week, Pep Rallies, Teacher Appreciation Day, Class Clash, Upkeep of the Memorial Garden, Madison Munchies, Morning Announcements, and Welcome Back activities at the start of each year. Elections are held each year. See the front office for more information.

Cheerleading

MCS cheerleaders are committed to being a blessing to their school, their fellow students and the family community of MCS. Our goal is to support the athletes and our student body and contribute to the overall atmosphere of the school.

"Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves."
∼ Romans 12:10

School Drama Club

Drama is meant to be performed, and many different types of performers make up the school play. Talented players learn to block their movements, memorize their lines, internalize their roles, interact with other actors, and finally, become their characters for the play. Gifted artists create and paint scenes and creative crew members develop props and costumes. Technical specialists apply stage makeup and use lights and sound effects. All of the performers work together to create a show that allows them to use their talents to honor and glorify God.

Art Department

Besides the regular art classes provided to MCS students, our high school students have an opportunity to create large school-wide murals to beautify our surroundings. Students have created several permanent wall murals, including tile mosaics and stained glass window hangings.

The MCS Art Department also supports the Music Department by providing Christmas concert sets and the Drama Department with annual play sets. Art students travel to various places in Columbus on field trips, create visual advertising for school events and finish the school year with the annual student art show.

Student Organized Bible Studies

There are several student-lead Bible studies, Throne Room & Truth Finders, that meet throughout the week. Typical Bible studies meet at lunch time for either praise and worship or scriptural exposition.

Bowling Club

Find out why bowling is a sport that lasts a lifetime. Bowing is the fastest-growing high school sport this decade and continues to gain more participation every year that it is offered. Bowling also gives students an opportunity to become involved with their high schools, teaches fundamentals for a lifetime sport, and helps athletes earn scholarships and bowl in college.
